Facial Implants

Facial implants provide a long-term solution for concerns with facial volume loss or an imbalance in facial features. These concerns arise with changes due to aging—such as degeneration or atrophy of the muscle, bone and fatty tissues—that negatively impact facial proportions. Genetic predispositions to a weak chin or jawline are also common aesthetic concerns that patients face. With facial implant surgery, Cutis Cosmetic and Laser Centre is pleased to offer patients in the communities of Dundas, Hamilton, Burlington, Ancaster, Flamborough, Brantford and Waterdown a safe and permanent facial contouring solution for the chin, jawline, cheeks and temples.

Treatments

As a cosmetic surgery centre, Cutis is equipped to provide the highest level of care and safety to our patients. During a consultation with Cutis Cosmetic Facial Surgeon Dr. Ron Lemckert, ENT, a general health assessment will be made to ensure treatment suitability. Using facial implants to enhance the shape of the face allows Cutis a means to permanently restore facial volume for a balanced and rejuvenated appearance. Our highly trained professionals take every safeguard to ensure our patients are fully informed and prepared for both pre- and post-treatment care.

Recovery

Patients may experience some swelling and bruising for the first few days after surgery. Typically, the recovery from facial implant surgery is swift, and patients can return to work after about a week. Dr. Lemckert will thoroughly explain how to care for your incisions as they heal, and will provide follow-up visits to ensure an optimal recovery. Once the initial swelling subsides, the final result from your procedure will arise over a period of months as the implants and tissues settle into place.

How It Works

Facial implant surgery is performed as a day surgery under general anaesthesia. The incision placement will depend on the area of concern you wish to address. For a chin implant, the incision is made beneath the chin or at times inside the lower lip. For cheek implants, the incisions are made inside the upper lip. Jaw angle implant incisions are placed inside the mouth between the cheek and the jaw. Extended jaw implants to create a completely new contour for the jaw are placed by using the same standard incisions used for a chin implant and angle implants. In the case of temporal augmentation, the incision is placed beyond the hairline near the temple to make the incision invisible. Working with your unique facial features and aesthetic goals, Dr. Lemckert will place a soft and flexible silicone implant above the muscle tissue, below the overlying fascia. Your treatment plan will determine the size and arrangement of the implants with the goal of realizing a natural-looking and pleasing outcome.
