Addressing lip augmentation myths.
Plump and full lips are all the rage these days. Unfortunately, not every lip enhancement treatment is equal. Examples of uneven or lumpy lips can scare a lot of people off, and understandably so.
So how can this outcome be avoided?
>Working with an experienced injector who uses a high quality hyaluronic acid based filler is a very good place to start.
>A qualified and adept practitioner will have an in-depth understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the lips. They will be able to assess how your lips will uniquely respond to the introduction of HA filler. This skill is crucial in avoiding a lumpy or unnatural appearance. Additionally, practitioners like Dr. Lemckert, facial cosmetic surgeon, who are well versed in the cannula injection technique, are able to minimize trauma to the lips while performing a precise and low risk lip augmentation treatment.
>At Cutis, we work with high quality, gold standard filler treatments such as JUVÉDERM® and Revanesse® to achieve fuller lips that feel smooth and look natural.
Lips will often feel lumpy initially after filler treatment, but this usually resolves in 1-2 weeks depending on the filler used. It’s important to note that some fillers should not be used in the lips, as they do not have an appropriate consistency, and the lumpiness can persist. Other fillers that have particles to stimulate collagen production are known to cause nodules, as the particles will often migrate and accumulate due to muscle action in the lips. A skilled, reputable and qualified injector will understand these nuances, and provide a lip filler treatment that reduces such risks.
