Brow & Forehead Lift
A brow lift or forehead lift is a relatively simple surgical procedure where the tissues and muscles of the forehead are adjusted and excess skin removed to create the desired ‘lifted’ effect. There is also the option of endoscopic brow lift that minimizes incisions and hides the scars behind the hairline. These procedure can address a furrowed brow, brow asymmetry, frown lines and drooping brows. A consultation with Dr. Lemckert, ENT – Facial Plastic Surgeon, will ascertain if a forehead or brow lift surgery will optimally address your skin objectives.
Treatments
As a centre for facial cosmetic surgery and aesthetic dermatology, your safety and comfort are of our utmost priority. Our patients are well-informed and prepared for what to expect before, throughout and following your brow lift procedure. A general anesthetic will eliminate any discomfort throughout the surgery which takes one and a half to two hours to complete. Dr. Lemckert will personally follow-up with you following your procedure to ensure you are comfortable and that your questions are answered quickly.
Recovery
The expected recovery period following a brow lift or forehead lift is one to two weeks. Supportive garments/dressings and prescribed analgesic medications may be appreciated through the first few days post surgery. Bruising and swelling around the eyes and on the forehead are common and typically subside within one to two weeks.
How It Works
Depending on the brow lift or forehead lift technique incisions may be made in various positions on the forehead or scalp, but always care is taken to hide the incision lines. They are generally hidden in the hairline or behind the hairline to minimize the appearance of scars. Muscles which cause undesired frown lines can be interrupted to minimize these. Excess skin on the forehead can be reduced to smooth the skin and the brows can be lifted for an improved and rejuvenated appearance.

Brow Suspension
A brow suspension is a less invasive alternative to endoscopic brow lift surgery to lift and contour the brows. This procedure is best suited to moderate aging concerns. A consultation with Dr. Lemckert, ENT – Facial Plastic Surgeon, will determine whether brow suspension is the most suitable surgical solution to achieve your desired results.
Treatments
As a centre for facial cosmetic surgery and aesthetic dermatology, your safety and comfort are of our utmost priority. A local anesthetic is administered during the brow suspension procedure to eliminate any discomfort throughout the surgery. Low level sedation is an option to help reduce your anxiety. Brow suspension surgery requires just an hour and expected recovery is quick.
Recovery
Swelling and bruising following a brow suspension, particularly around the eyelids is possible but is usual minimal. If pronounced swelling may be uncomfortable and temporarily impede vision. Cold compresses, prescribed analgesics and keeping the head elevated will maximize your comfort and optimize recovery.
How It Works
Small incisions are made within the eyebrow and hairline directly above the eyebrow incisions. A tube is carefully placed underneath the skin between the eyebrow and hairline incisions and a suture is threaded through the tube. The eyebrows are then lifted and secured into their new, desired place.

Browpexy (Brow Asymmetry)
Browpexy involves a brow lift procedure paired with blepharoplasty to both lift the brows and correct brow asymmetry. By combining these surgeries, concerns of heavy, falling eyelids and the position of the brows are simultaneously addressed thereby avoiding multiple surgical procedures. Browpexy reduces redundant eyelid and opens up the eye by lifting the center and outer aspects of the brow. The overall result is a more refreshed and youthful appearance. A consultation with Dr. Lemckert, ENT – Facial Plastic Surgeon, will determine the appropriate surgical procedure to achieve your desired result.
Treatments
Your safety and comfort are of our utmost priority. The procedure can be completed with local anesthetic and low level sedation but there is the option of general anesthetic for browpexy dependent on patient desire. The complete procedure requires just one to two hours. We pride ourselves on well-informed patients; you will feel prepared for what to expect prior to, throughout and following your browpexy procedure.
Recovery
Light activities can be resumed after 48 hours while recovery from visible bruising and swelling can take up to two weeks. Eyes may feel sticky, dry, and itchy. Using cold compresses, prescribed pain medication, and keeping the head elevated are key to minimizing discomfort and aiding healing. Sometimes eye drops may be prescribed. Permanent stitches are removed after three to five days while self-absorbing stitches will dissolve on their own.
How It Works
To free the eyebrow from some of its attachments, a dissection is made over the bony portion of the eye socket. With hidden stitches, the underside of the eyebrow is stitched to the fibrous tissue covering the bone. The eyebrow is then lifted and secured with delicate sutures to the desired location. Healing from the procedure is generally quick and scarring is very inconspicuous.
