During a consultation with Cutis' Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Ron Lemckert, ENT, a general health assessment will be made to ensure treatment suitability. A topical anesthetic may be applied prior to treatment to alleviate discomfort. Our highly trained professionals take every safeguard to ensure our patients are fully informed and prepared for both pre and post-treatment care.
Recovery
Depending on the treatment method recovery times can vary. Mild discomfort can occur immediately following draining and injection with patients immediately returning to daily activities. Depending on the size, placement and depth of an excision, recovery time and experience may differ. Mild discomfort, redness and swelling can be experienced. Healing of the treatment area can take up to two weeks but is usually less (with stitch removal at three to ten days dependent on area).
How It Works
Cysts can be treated through draining, injection or excision. Draining the cyst, consists of a lancet to pierce and drain the fluid within the cyst (the sac is left intact. Cortisone (a steroid) is injected to reduce swelling or the cyst is completely removed (excised).
