Milia are very common, benign, keratin-filled cysts which appear as tiny, white, pearl-like formations under the skin’s surface. The cause of milia is unknown. Milia don’t resolve on their own and an intervention is required to remove them. Under the exceptional care of Cutis’ Dermatologist Dr. Karen Edstrom, our patients are treated to all the latest techniques and applications in facial rejuvenation. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Edstrom to learn more about your facial treatment options.
Treatments
As a cosmetic surgery centre, Cutis is equipped in providing the highest level of care and safety to our patients. For removal of milia ,discomfort is minimal and no topical anesthetic is required. During a consultation with either Cutis' Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Ron Lemckert, ENT, or Dermatologist Dr. Karen Edstrom a general skin assessment will be made to ensure treatment suitability. Our highly trained professionals take every safeguard to ensure our patients are fully informed and prepared for both pre and post-treatment care.
Recovery
There is no recovery period for single extraction. Patients may experience mild redness and pin point scabbing for up to two or three days. The use of medical grade skincare prescribed by a Cutis skin specialist may help prevent further development of milia.
How It Works
For milia removal, a tiny incision is made and the content is manually extracted.
