Large ear lobes or protruding ears are often addressed surgically  with a treatment commonly referred to as ear pinning. Medically it is known as otoplasty. This surgical treatment is safe for all ages. As we age, ear lobes tend to become loose as skin elasticity decreases (heavy earrings don’t help). Under the exceptional care of Cutis Cosmetic Facial Surgeon Dr. Ron Lemckert, ENT, our patients are treated to all the latest techniques and applications in ear rejuvenation. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Lemckert to learn more about your ear treatment options.

As a cosmetic surgery centre, Cutis is equipped in providing the highest level of care and safety to our patients. During a consultation with Cutis Cosmetic Facial Surgeon, Dr. Ron Lemckert, ENT, a general health assessment will be made to ensure treatment suitability. The treatment is performed under local anesthetic and depending on the procedure can last between 30 minutes to two hours. Our highly trained professionals take every safeguard to ensure our patients are fully informed and prepared for both pre and post-treatment care.

Recovery time for otoplasty is between 10 and 14 days. A moderate amount of swelling, bruising and redness are to be expected. Ice packs can be applied to ease discomfort. Effective pain management will be discussed and prescribed prior to treatment. A bandage may be fitted around the head and worn for one week following treatment and then at night time only for another 3 weeks. The participation in regular activities, including work, should be suspended for one week.

How It Works

Hidden incisions are made at the back of the ear or on the ear lobe if this is being reduced. The ear is then reshaped by manipulating the cartilage (the flexible connective tissue in the ear) or removing redundant ear lobe tissue. The incisions are closed by small sutures.
