During a consultation with Cutis' Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Ron Lemckert, ENT, a general health assessment will be made to ensure treatment suitability. The treatment can be performed under local or general anesthetic and can last between one to three hours depending on the size of the rhinophyma.. Our highly trained professionals take every safeguard to ensure our patients are fully informed and prepared for both pre and post-treatment care.
Recovery time for rhinophyma varies. A moderate amount of swelling, bruising and redness is to be expected. Effective pain management will be discussed and prescribed prior to treatment. Bandages will be applied immediately following treatment and will require replacement for one week following treatment. The participation in regular activities, including work, should be suspended for one week, with strenuous activity suspended until week three.
How It Works
Laser intervention or radiofrequency ablation are the preferred treatment methods for rhinophyma (bulbous nose). The CO2 Laser or Ellman Pelleve radiofrequency surgical unit are used to excise the lesion and sculpt the nasal tip. With proper post surgery care the skin regenerates from the sebaceous glands on the nasal tip..
