How It Works

Skin lesions can be treated by laser, radio frequency ablation, excision or electrocautery. Surgical excision is most commonly used to remove moles that are deep, while Ellman Pelleve (radio frequency ablation) is used in the removal of moles that are more superficial with a very low risk of scarring. Excision is a minor surgical procedure which removes the lesion and its surrounding area. It may or may not require stitches. Scarring can occur but it may be minimized with the correct technique. Electrocautery is a minor surgical procedure which destroys the lesion by applying a heated electrode to living tissue.
